Community Fiesta Night a Success!

Muchas gracias to all of you who attended, donated, and/or worked to make our first ever Community Fiesta Night a success! Our goal of the evening was to celebrate the Latino culture and people that are present in and around Holland. We were successful! About 600 people attended from all parts of our community! We ate tamales, arroz con frijoles, totopos y salsa, fruta and pastel de tres leches! ¡Qué delicioso! We attacked two piñatas, praised God in Spanish, played La Lotería, received balloon perros y flores, and much more! Click here to see the pictures.

Los Opuestos

Kindergarten and 1st grade students have been learning about opposite words...so have Señora Brouwer's high school students! We've enjoyed making videos for each other and watching them in our classes. Here are a few highlights!

Telling a story, our story, THE story...

I loved listening to the stories that were shared at the Rose Park program last night! The students did a beautiful job sharing them with us, and I loved their excitement for sharing THE story in Spanish! It's a blessing to be a part of the Rose Park community where these stories are cherished and celebrated!

Ana y Fer necesitan chaquetas

3rd and 4th grade students enjoyed a short video about Ana and Fer, two friends with "un problema"...

Juan 6:48

Pine Ridge students learned this verse with their food unit. Our bodies need food, but Jesus is our soul food! Only He sustains life. Make sure you have said this verse to Srta. VanWyk in Spanish and English.

Una bendición (A Blessing)

I went to the South Side program this evening, and I left feeling very blessed and uplifted by the children. Their songs and verses and the excitement with which they sang and recited them were beautiful. Thank you, parents, for the blessing that your children were tonight and are in class each day. ~Srta.
